Ladies with Red Hats

Red Hat 1

Red Hat 2

Two pieces of art work: each lady has a red hat. The ladies look neat, prim, and conservative. They might be useful for illustrating a 1950s or 1960s style. The art will work well as an illustration of pages relating to senior citizens. They were done as part of a series of the red-hat ladies in purple dresses. These two turned out looking more like straight-forward portraits of elderly ladies, or fashion illustrations of yesteryear, than like the light-hearted cartoons of the rest of the series. The medium is watercolor on paper. They are signed and dated DKP 08. Dominant colors are red, purple, brown, and pink.

Feel free to use them as you like: as is, cropped, re-vamped in an image editor, or altered however you wish. They are being placed in the public domain by the artist!

High-School Art: Daylily Watercolor

High-School Art: Daylily Watercolor

This daylily artwork was from my high-school days. It is actually mixed media on drawing or sketch paper: mainly watercolor, but with pencil and possibly pastel and colored ink. It does show a good sensitivity for the subject matter, in spite of its amateur qualities. I haven't tried to fix it: it is presented "as is," with stains and wrinkles. I'm adding this to the public domain. Possible uses are as decoration, if you like it. It could also be useful for a sample of art done by a high-school-aged child, for the purpose of critique or to illustrate an educational point. My guess is that I did it at age fifteen or sixteen, as it compares to other work and subject matter of that time.

Blind Man's Buff - PNG

Blind Man's Buff illustration, clothing of approximately Civil War era. The art is a line drawing in black-and-white or grayscale, of a blind-folded lady playing blind-man's buff in a parlor, with a man, woman, and little girl. One of these is a PNG, the other is a JPEG. I did the artwork for a history project, but did not use it. I am releasing it to the public domain. Here is the full-sized JPEG, if Blogger allows the original size:

Cupid Border Art for Public Domain

Cupid Border Art

I created this cupid border art using mixed media, including watercolor. I used it in several designs for postcards for my other website, Southern Muse. It is designed as a border or bracket for a card or photo, in which the cupid would be holding up or pressing against the card/photo. I hereby release this artwork into the public domain.
